U.S. News & World Report Ranks The American Club in the Top 10 Percent of its Prestigious Best Hotels in the USA List

Historic property retains the number one spot within Best Hotels in Wisconsin category

KOHLER, Wis. — February 6, 2018 — U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in rankings and consumer advice, today announced its eighth annual Best Hotels award, with the iconic American Club hotel earning the esteemed Gold badge within two categories: Best Hotels in Wisconsin (#1) and Best Hotels in the USA (#48). Located at the award-winning Destination Kohler, The American Club’s rankings were based on thousands of independent reviews from individuals and professional travel experts worldwide, which evaluated the overall guest experience and amenities offered. More than 2,100 luxury properties were considered within the country, with 17 in Wisconsin.

“We are honored to be nationally recognized by industry experts and guests in these two categories,” said Christine Loose, Group Director of Lodging for Kohler Co, Hospitality & Real Estate. “This accolade reinforces our company’s continued commitment to creating warm, welcoming and authentic experiences, matched with superior service.”

2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the iconic American Club building, which was once home to immigrants who came to work at the Kohler factory. In 1981, with a deep regard for celebrating its traditions and heritage, Herbert V. Kohler, Jr., Executive Chairman, Kohler Co., transformed the property into a premier travel destination where the historic past would always be present. Today, The American Club continues to honor the ideals, philosophy, promise and pride on which it was founded. The warm, welcoming spirit of the original American Club remains, and much of the Tudor-style exterior is unchanged. Guests can enjoy an intimate glimpse of The American Club’s storied past through curated memorabilia, which adorns the oak-panelled hallways and guest room walls, or by visiting the Kohler Design Center’s museum, showcasing the creative achievements and history of the Kohler family.

The American Club boasts world-class accommodations outfitted with the finest Kohler plumbing products; the award-winning Kohler Waters Spa, a leader in innovative hydrotherapy treatments; an evolving health and wellbeing program with Yoga on the Lake at the core; 12 distinct dining establishments, with its crown jewel the Immigrant Restaurant at the forefront; and four championship golf courses, including Whistling Straits, which will host the upcoming 2020 Ryder Cup.

The American Club at Destination Kohler is part of Kohler Co.’s the world-renowned and impressive portfolio of properties, which includes The Old Course Hotel in St. Andrews, Scotland and the brand’s most recent project, LODGE KOHLER, which opened in July 2017 and is located across the street from the iconic Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis.
